In the 1990s, director David Dhawan and actor Govinda enjoyed a near perfect partnership as the duo had collaborated for over 17 films, most of which became major hits. Recently, the director talked about working with the actor and said that he was the only one who was able to manage Govinda effectively.

Upon being questioned about Govinda’s habitual lateness, David remarked that despite of this, the actor’s work was always completed.

During his interview with Bollywood Bubble, David shared his experience of casting Salman Khan alongside Govinda in Partner. He discussed the idea with producer Sohail Khan and suggested to cast Salman and Govinda together, to which the producer was supportive, however, Salman was not very keen. The director persuaded him saying, “Come yaar, let’s do it, it will be a big thing.”

He also recalled an incident from their Bangkok shoot schedule where Salman told him, “David yaar, isse ladna.. fayda nahi hai,” implying it was useless to argue.

Some of the biggest hit movies which saw Govinda and David coming together included Raja Babu, Coolie No. 1, Hero No 1, Saajan Chale Sasural, and Aankhen.
