Veteran Actor from Kolkata, Soumitra Chatterjee has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata after testing positive for COVID-19. A report by PTI states that he has been unwell from the past few days and now has finally been admitted to a hospital. He has won 7 Filmfare awards, a National Award for Best Actor for the film Podokkhep and is also a Padma Bhushan award wielder, and many more such awards. The veteran actor is very well known for his work with the Oscar-winning film director Satyajit Ray, with whom he has worked in almost 14 films.
Press Trust of India shared this news via their Twitter handle that the veteran actor has been tested positive for COVID-19 as per the health officials. Soumitra’s daughter, Poulomi Basu, then told the news agency that the Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner actor was unwell since the past three days with fever. She then added that her father tested positive for the virus on Monday night. Sharing a current status of his health, Poulomi Basu said that “Baba (father) is stable now. He is fully conscious. He is under observation due to his advancing age.”

Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamta Banerjee, also tweeted through her official Twitter account praying for Chatterjee’s speedy recovery.
