Comedian Samay Raina’s upcoming shows in Gujarat cancelled amidst crass comments row on India’s Got Latent: claims VHP

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday claimed that Samay Raina’s upcoming shows in Gujarat have been cancelled in wake of outrage over the insensitive remarks being made on the comedian’s show India’s Got Latent.

The VHP said that the tickets for Samay’s show, which was scheduled in April, were no longer available for sale on online ticketing platform BookMyShow.

YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia stirred up major controversy with comments on parents and sex on Samay’s show, during his appearance as guest on the reality show. His remarks went viral on social media on Monday, which has not only led to massive criticism, but also led to multiple police complaints being filed in Mumbai and Gujarat.

The spokesperson for VHP, Hitendrasinh Rajput said, “It appears all these four shows [Surat on April 17, Vadodara on April 18, and Ahmedabad on April 19 and 20] have been cancelled due to public outrage against him in Gujarat. Though tickets for these shows were available till morning… it seems they have been now taken down from the portal.”

Earlier, Ranveer shared an apology video wherein he regretted saying what he said. Now, a couple of hours earlier, Samay ended his silence and revealed that he has deleted all the episodes of his show India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel. He explained that whatever is happening is a bit too much for him to handle.
