The versatile singer AR Rahman is celebrating his 57th birthday today, on the 6th of January. He has been regarded as the most gifted singer in all spectrums and has been appreciated globally as well.

AR Rahman’s contribution to the music industry has been phenomenal. It has encouraged and devoured people to feel acute emotions. The Grammy-winning artist has been attributed with high dignity and love in foreign lands as well and marked a place for himself. The singer has a street named after him in a city in Canada.

The City of Markham has a street which is named after the singer due to his phenomenal impact overseas. Following this news, AR Rahman had expressed gratitude for his honor. He took to his X account to thank the Major of Markham, Frank Scarpitti, Indian Consulate General, Apoorva Srivastava and the citizens of Canada.

He continued further by stating, “The name AR Rahman is not mine. It means merciful. The merciful is the quality of the common God we all have and one can only be the servant of merciful. So, let that name bring peace, prosperity, happiness and health to all people living in Canada. God bless you all. I want to thank my brothers and sisters of India for all the love. All the creative people who worked with me gave me the inspiration to rise up and celebrate hundred years of cinema; with all the legends included. I am a very small drop in the ocean.”

The singer concluded the tweet by saying, “I feel like this gives me immense responsibility to do much more and be inspiring; not to get tired and not to retire…yet. Even if I get tired I will remember that I have more things to do, more people to connect, more bridges to cross.”

AR Rahman commenced his career in the 1990s. His initial success came with the famous song featured in the Tamil film Roja. The music continues to be appreciated by the fans. The artist is yet again collaborating with Roja director Mani Ratnam for his upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan. Rahman has composed the song in the pan India film. It stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sobhita Dhulipala.
