‘Awakened by screaming of Jeh’s nanny’: Saif Ali Khan records statement recalling horrifying incident

Saif Ali Khan has provided a detailed account of the January 16 attack at his Bandra West home, wherein he was stabbed multiple times during an alleged burglary attempt. The actor, who was rushed to Lilavati hospital and underwent two surgeries, spoke to Mumbai police late on Thursday night, and narrated the horrifying incident.

Saif shared that he was awakened by the screams of his younger son, Jehangir’s nanny, Eliyama Philips. As he and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, rushed to their son’s room, they saw the alleged attacked. Saif recalled that while the nanny was screaming out of fear, Jeh was crying.

When Saif tried to stop the intruder, he stabbed the actor multiple times on his back, neck, and hands, reveals police sources. Despite being injured, the actor managed to push the intruder inside the room as Ms Philips ran away with Jeh and locked him in, they added.

Saif and his family members – Kareena, and their two children – Taimur and Jeh – were in the house when the attacker entered the 12th floor apartment for an apparent robbery. As per Ms Philips, the intruder had demanded Rs. 1 crore.

Saif suffered six stabbing injuries, with one being dangerously close to spine. He was rushed to Lilavati hospital around 2 am on the night of the incident. He underwent surgery to fix leaking spinal fluid and plastic surgeries on his arm and neck. He was discharged on January 21.

Saif Ali Khan’s attacker arrested

The alleged intruder, Shariful Islam Shehzad, 30, who is a Bangladeshi citizen, was arrested last week from Thane, following a three-day manhunt involving at least 20 teams from the Mumbai police. The accused, who enterted India illegally, was zeroed in on his location by cops after he paid for breakfast, via Google Pay transaction, as per reports by NDTV.
