Back in 2022, the cultural drama Kantara, which was a absolute hit at the box office, helped Rishab Shetty become well-known in the Hindi market. After the film’s incredible success, the actor declared that his next project for the big screen would be a prequel to Kantara, and he has been working on the project ever since. By the end of this year, production on the movie is anticipated to begin, with a 2024 release date. And now, according to a source Ashutosh Gowariker and Rishab Shetty plan to work together on a significant Pan India film.
According to a source close to the development, Ashutosh and Rishab have been in talks for a while now and things have finally fallen into place. “Ashutosh has been working on a subject that warrants a rooted treatment and he felt that Rishab is the best fit for his subject. He met the actor multiple times over the last few months and both jammed very well with regards to their take on cinema. Being a writer himself, Rishab collaborated very well with Ashutosh on the script and the two are now all set to team up for the first time,” revealed a source close to the development.
The movie, which has not yet been given a title, will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. “The script is set, and Ashutosh will start pre-production on the movie in the next two months. The plan is to begin construction on this as-yet-untitled project by the middle of 2024, once Rishab has finished the second Kantara film. The source determined that the precise filming schedule would depend on Kantara 2’s shooting and post-production schedules.
Over the years, Ashutosh Gowariker has contributed to films such Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se, Jodha Akhbar, and Lagaan Swades. On the other hand, Rishab is one of the most well-known actors/directors in the Kannada film business, having worked on films like Kantara, Ricky, Bell Bottom, and Avane Sriman Narayana. The movie is expected to begin production in the second half of 2024.
