Gangs of Wasseypur is one of the most iconic films of Bollywood and it also gave a shot to fame to actors such as Nawazuddin Siddhiqui, Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Bajpayee, and Richa Chadha. However, during the first day, director Anurag Kashyap had schooled Nawazuddin for his overacting and was made to shoot the whole sequence again.

The actor portrayed the role of Faisal Khan, the on-screen second son of Manoj Bajpayee’s character, Sardar Khan, and Richa Chadha’s character, Nagma Khatoon, in the 2012 epic black comedy crime drama.

While his performance in the film landed him a Special Jury Award at 60th National Film Awards 2012, the beginning was quite rocky for Nawazuddin. During his appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, he recalled receiving a 10 page script from Anurag and on the first day of the shoot, “I started behaving like Al Pacino.”

Anurag was quick to notice the change, which made him call him to his room. He said, “‘Ye kya kar raha hai tu? Tu pagal hai kya? Ye kis tarah se kar raha hai tu? Overacting kyu kar raha hai?'”

It was then when the actor realised his mistake and he had to reshoot all the scenes from his day one.
