The reports about fake currency notes with Anupam Kher’s face were found circulating in Gujarat and the actor has now responded to the same.
For those unaware, the Ahmedabad Police recently recovered fake currency notes amounting to Rs 1.60 crore. In the circulated videos Anupam Kher’s images were superimposed on Rs 500 notes instead of Mahatma Gandhi. The notes also had ‘Resole Bank of India’ instead of Reserve Bank of India.
Anupam also shared the video of a report about the fake notes recovery and said in Hindi, “Lo kar lo baat. My photo instead of Gandhiji’s photo on the five hundred rupee note???? Anything can happen!”
The fake notes were reportedly found out following the attempt by bullion firm owner Mehul Thakkar to exchange Rs 1.60 crore he was defrauded. Against them the legal procedure has been initiated in the form of a case.
The report said Thakdar told police that a group wanted to buy 2,100 grams of gold and wanted the delivery to Navrangpura, a city area. Thakkar then got an employee to deliver the gold to the duo who gave him a plastic bag in exchange. The suspects alleged that the bag contained Rs. 1.3 crore in cash.
It’s still under investigation by the police.
