Actress Ananya Panday, who stars in the film CTRL that looks into the world of Artificial Intelligence [AI] says that government authorities should come up with something that can keep a check misuse of such technology.
In recent past, celebrities including Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Rashmika Mandanna have become victims of deepfake videos. “It’s very scary. As public figures, our faces and voices are out there. (So) I don’t know how much we can safeguard. I think it will have to come from regulations by the government, that’s probably the only solution,” said Ananya when asked about the deep fake videos on celebrities in an interaction with PTI on the green carpet at the IIFA Awards 2024.
For those unaware, Deepfake refers to a digital technique that enables users to substitute one individual’s portrayal with that of another’s using artificial interfaces.
In the trailer of CTRL, Ananya’s character downloads an app that helps her erase Joe (Vihaan Samat), her lover, from her life after he was found cheating. Created by Saffron and Andolan Films, CTRL will hit Netflix with its first episode on the 4th of October.
Meanwhile, the actress was last seen in series Call Me Bae, which has been renewed for season two at Prime Video.
