Amy Schumer “owes no explanation” for her appearance.

The writer and comedian, who has been doing press ahead of the release of her Hulu comedy ‘Life & Beth’, took to social media to address the recent comments being made on her face. She used the opportunity to give more visibility to endometriosis, a condition wherein the tissue that resembles cells found in the lining of a uterus grows outside of the organ.

In the caption of her Instagram post, the comedian wrote, “thank you so much for everyone’s input about my face! I’ve enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years. And you’re right it is puffier than normal right now. I have endometriosis an auto immune disease that every woman should read about.” Her post also included promotional art for the second season of her show, which also stars Michael Cera.

She explained that she has endometriosis, a diagnosis about which she had talked previously, due to which she has been experiencing some medical and hormonal things, which she is fine with.

Amy also slammed the lack of funding for research on health issues affecting women’s, compared to men’s body. She claimed that the cause of this condition is still no known and there is no cure.
