Amitabh Bachchan reveals Gulabo Sitabo is a puppet show native to UP

Shoojit Sircar’s directorial, Gulabo Sitabo starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana was slated for 24th April 2020 release. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the central government has imposed a nationwide lockdown to flatten the curve and do away with the virus. And resultantly, the Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer film could not make it to the Box Office. However, it is announced that the movie will be premiered on an OTT platform.
Ever since the trailer released, people were gripped by it and the unique title ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ made things even better.

For those unaware, Gulabo Sitabo is actually a puppet show that originally belongs to Uttar Pradesh.
In a recent conversation with Zoom Entertainment, Amitabh Bachchan revealed the movie is a puppet show that is native to Uttar Pradesh. Point to be noted here is Amitabh himself originally belongs to Uttar Pradesh too.


Bollywood’s legendary actor added, he was aware of the puppet shows. His youth was filled with frolicking in such shows and his house too had a lot of puppets. Moreover, during the growing up period of his children and grandchildren, Puppet shows were everywhere in the country and not just in UP.
“Yes the inspiration of GiBoSiBo came to Shoojit Sircar after witnessing the puppet show, you mention, in UP. But that is where it all ends. I saw it for the first time on the net, when Shoojit introduced me to it, Big B concluded.
