Alia Bhatt to be back on sets of Gangubai Kathiawadi, shoot to start from October

As per reports, Alia Bhatt will resume shoot of Gangubai Kathiawadi in Film City next month, with solo scenes reserved for the start.

The pandemic led lockdown put all the shoots of films at a halt. The shoot of Alia Bhatt‘s Gangubai Kathiawadi was one such film, which was to be wrapped up by the summer but the lockdown spoiled the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s plans. The grand set of the film was to be pulled down before the monsoons with only suitable portions of the set remain standing at Film City in the present. Now, the filmmaker is all set to return to the universe of the Kamathipura brothels of the ’60s, and has also been in talks with the lead of the film, Alia Bhatt. As per the reports of Mid-day, sources suggest that the duo is hoping to resume work in early October, even though the director is aware that shooting a period film amid the restrictions imposed by the government will be a difficult task.

Mid-day also states that the sources have mentioned, “In the first post-pandemic schedule, they will film solo scenes of Alia Bhatt, and other sequences that require fewer people. Some cheat shots will have to be employed, which will be corrected later at the VFX stage. Being a perfectionist who doesn’t want to compromise on the scale of the product, the filmmaker has decided to shoot the more elaborate scenes later. The set is currently being fixed and sanitised for an October shoot. However, Bhansali has yet to determine the final dates.”
