Actor Ali Fazal has become a well-known artist not just in Bollywood, but in the west too. He has been a part of many critically acclaimed western and Indian projects and has made a niche for himself. He will be seen next in the new season of the hit series ‘Mirzapur’. In an interview with The Telegraph, the actor opened up about the reason he feels made the series so successful.
During the interview, the actor put forward an interesting theory on the success of Mirzapur. He said, “That’s because we are a country that loves championing underdogs.” He further went on to add, “When someone rises from the bottom, we feel ki yeh toh apna hain. I feel that these two brothers (Guddu and Bablu of Mirzapur) had that.”
The actor continued “Of course, the layout is very different. It’s a story of gangsters, but in essence, it’s about the underdog. These kind of stories with such high intensity drama also bring a certain closure to the viewers. I think this is why the hype is so much. Everyone on the internet is asking, ‘What will Guddu do know?’ And I am like, ‘Will people be okay if Guddu just walked out saying he’s done because he lost his brother and wife?’ I don’t know. That won’t tell a good story, would it?”
“I am almost dreading watch a few scenes of season 2 myself,” he added as he talked about the new season.
Mirzapur will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from 23rd October.
