Actress Shantipriya made her debut with Akshay Kumar in Saugandh. Recently, she was a part of an interview and talked about the rejection she faced in the early 90’s due to her skin colour. Shantipriya recalled an incident when Akshay Kumar made fun of her knees being darker than usual when she played a role of a modern woman wearing a short dress.

She admitted that it made her uncomfortable. Recently, she took to Twitter to clarify her statement and said that Akshay’s comment was not meant to hurt me. Shanthipriya writes, “I want to make it clear, making those comments were akshaykumar’s way of being playful with me. Even though his comments stayed with me for a while, I believe he didn’t mean to hurt me or cause me distress. I adore all of his work and wish him love & luck for his future!”

Check out her tweet.

Although the comment did make an impact on her mental health, she still considers Akshay as her good friend. She also expressed that her sister, Bhanupriya went through the same thing in her days. Her sister did quit movies later on as the film industry did not accept her. She also revealed that she was thrown out of the movies because she did not agree to wear swim suits. Shantipriya has worked in various Tamil movies as well.
