“Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue” made its highly anticipated debut in theaters on October 6. Starring an ensemble cast including Parineeti Chopra, Pawan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, and more, the film was brought to life under the direction of the talented Tinu Suresh Desai. This biographical narrative was centered around the remarkable life of Jaswant Singh Gill, but regrettably, it fell short of the audience’s expectations.
In a candid interview with Times Now Navbharat, Akshay Kumar, the film’s lead actor, responded to the disappointing performance of “Mission Raniganj.” He went on to describe it as “one of his best films,” despite its lackluster box office results. With a sense of humility and dedication to his craft, he remarked, “It is not a commercial film. It has not earned as much as it should have earned. But, I have come here knowing that the film has not done well, to own the film- and I have done some 150 films by now-and say that this is one of my best films.”
According to the insights shared by the seasoned trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “Mission Raniganj” failed to make a significant impact during its opening weekend. Taran Adarsh conveyed this disappointing news through a tweet, stating, “#MissionRaniganj has a below-the-mark Weekend 1… Biz improved on Day 2, but got impacted by #INDvAUS match on Day 3… Weekend biz is not in sync with its merits/reports, but if it sustains from today [Mon], right till #Dussehra2023, there’s a chance of putting up a decent total… Fri 2.80 cr, Sat 4.80 cr, Sun 5 cr. Total: ₹ 12.60 cr. #India biz.”
Despite its initial struggles, “Mission Raniganj” still holds the potential to find its footing in the days to come, and perhaps, carve out a respectable place for itself in the hearts of the audience.
