Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has been doing several films with social messages in them from last few years and people are loving them. The balance of entertainment, education and information in scripts of these films makes them equipped for not only a perfect box office hit or critical acclaims but impacts millions of people as well.
PadMan was one such film. The critically acclaimed film was based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who created a low-cost sanitary napkin machine for the women in rural Tamil Nadu. The film pushed the boundaries by creating awareness and breaking all the taboos surrounding menstruation. The cast included Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte, Sonam Kapoor, Vijay Verma.
Akshay on the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2020 on Thursday took to his Twitter to share a heart-warming message.
He tweeted, “It’s been 2 years to #PadMan and I’m glad we managed to push the envelope a little on this taboo subject. This #MenstrualHygieneDay, I hope we move a step closer towards ending period poverty and breaking taboos surrounding menstruation. @sonamakapoor @radhika_apte,”

While he was thanking his co-actors Radhika and Sonam, little did he know that he forgot to mention his wife, Twinkle Khanna, who was the producer of the film. Twinkle Khanna, known for her witty and frank nature took toll on ‘Good Newwz’ actor by retweeting, ‘“Err…. You are definitely not part of my next production!”
