Naseeruddin Shah kicked off his directorial debut with ‘Yun Hota Tho Kya Hota’ in 2006. And Shah is willing to take small steps now as a director after his first directed film was flop. Recently Shah’s Amazon prime video Bandish Bandits is winning all hearts and this sets another milestone for the veteran actor.
During an interview with Mid-day, Shah spoke about his directorial failures, “My confidence as a filmmaker was badly shaken by the film I made. I am not able to summon the confidence to direct again. It’s not that I am proud of it but it didn’t turn out well because of my shortcomings as a director. I want to set that right by directing a short film”. The veteran actor is keen to explore the genre again with baby steps.
In recent times, Shah is enjoying his digital debut as he is a strong believer of the platform liberating for writers and filmmakers, “They don’t have the burden of censorship or having to take a saleable routes. For actors, it is living a long film; it is almost like doing a Shyam Benegal Film”.
