Bollywood business is among the hardest hit businesses in this pandemic. Due to corona induced lockdown, shootings standstill and production houses fear that even after lockdown will unlock, people might not prefer theatres because of the gathered crowd in a close environment. That’s why many production houses chose to put their work on OTT platforms, selling the rights to digital giants.

Ajay Devgn starrer Bhuj is also aiming for a digital release. Helmed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Bhuj is set in the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistan war of 1972 wherein IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, the then-in charge of the Bhuj airport and his team reconstructed the IAF airbase with the help of 300 local women. This film also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles.

This movie was scheduled to be released in mid of this year, but due to lockdown, the plan stands delayed.

An online portal, Pinkvilla reported that, “Though there are a few shooting days left for the film, the makers are very well aware of the post unlock situation wherein theatre-goers might be apprehensive to go in crowded places. Keeping all this in mind, the producers are in talks with Hotstar to get a direct digital release, given that further delay will only add to the production cost. The makers are trying to crack a good deal with the platform. Talks are currently on a primary stage.”

The same portal also reported that T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar told that the films with limited shooting days and patch work remaining will resume shooting first once safety measures are ensured.
But among the whole chaos between whether movies will continue for digital release or wait for theatres to reopen, Bhuj seems to have found it’s way on Hotstar.
