Adnan Sami, asks, why is creativity being controlled by those who have none, on Music Mafia debate!

Celebrated singer, Adnan Sami is currently quarantined in Germany and doesn’t plan to upload any video anytime soon. The singer, in an interview with the Times of India, has not only given everyone a glimpse of his life in this phase, but also made it clear which side of the music mafia debate he stands on.

Earlier, Adnan has taken to social media to voice his opinion on the issue. The singer made it very clear that the issue affected him personally and not just as a industry observer. The post read, “The Indian Film & Music Industry SERIOUSLY needs a ‘Herculean‘ SHAKE UP. Especially in the context of music, New Singers, Veteran Singers, Music Composers & Music Producers – who are being exploited to the HILT!! “Fall into the DICTAT or you’re OUT”… Why is creativity beyond “CONTROLLED” by those you have no clue about ‘creativity’ & are trying to play GOD??” Adding to this, he had written a quote by Abraham Lincoln and had warned the mafias of the change that is knocking at the doors of the music industry.

While answering the question on the same, the singer said, “People need to come forward. If you are talented, bloody hell, you should get your opportunity! And if you are being denied that, then things need to change.”

Adnan said that he was the biggest outsider one could ever think of, but He forced himself in. But the singer reflected on the fact that things have changed over time. He also emphasised that in earlier days, the people who had power in the music industry were respectful of the talent, and were themselves outsiders at some point. So, the recent trend in the industry is problematic. Adnan exclaimed, “People who are talented need to be brought forward, or at least allowed to come forward without being bullied. Bollywood kisi ke baap ki jaagir nahi hai.”

Reflecting upon the storm that has knocked on the door of the music industry, the singer feels that it is not merely an online outrage. He also assures everybody that serious steps are underway because he really wants to see new talent flourish. The singer also believes that the reason such a shake was required, because people in powerful roles were given so much feedback about how wise they are that they began to believe it and started playing GOD.

Adnan disclosed that a lot of newcomers have approached him with the same concern, but they can come out in light because they are scared about their careers.

While answering a question about his struggles in the industry, the singer delved into his hidden space and calmly said, “People ask me, ‘you’re such a happy-go-lucky person, aapki aawaz mein dard kahan se aata hai?’ It comes from there, perhaps… it was not easy. Nobody can understand that. People have no idea what I have been through. I don’t like to let the world know about my struggle, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t exist… We artists, you know, we put on facades. But the struggles really, really wear you down. People need to understand that. And that is why, for those who struggle today – I will fight.”
