A Mumbai resident has taken offence at Ranbir Kapoor’s viral Christmas video and has lodged a complaint against him and his family at a city police station on Wednesday. A copy of the complaint can be found online, in which the complainant charges Ranbir and his family with “deliberately invoking Hindu Gods and Goddesses by sprinkling intoxicating liquor on the cake and offering it to fire while celebrating any other religious festival with the intention of insulting the Sanatan Dharma there.”

Following the complainant’s request that the actor be booked under sections 295(A), 298, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, no First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in the matter as of yet.

According to PTI, Sanjay Tiwari said that the actor could be seen in the video pouring alcohol over a cake and setting it on fire while exclaiming ‘Jai Mata Di’. He filed the complaint at the Ghatkopar police station through his attorneys Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra. The accusation claimed that Ranbir and his family members purposefully used alcohol while celebrating a different religion’s festival and screamed “Jai Mata Di,” despite the fact that in Hinduism, the fire deity is invoked before other deities. The complaint claimed this offended the complainant’s religious feelings.

Every year, the Kapoor family gets together for their traditional Christmas meal, but this year was especially noteworthy because it marked the public debut of Raha Kapoor, the family’s daughter, by Ranbir and Alia Bhatt. After arriving at Sashi Kapoor’s house for lunch, they brought Raha Kapoor over to meet the media. That day, the first images of the one-year-old went viral online.

Along with Karisma Kapoor and her children Samaira and Kiaan, her parents Babita and Randhir Kapoor, Sashi Kapoor’s son Kunal Kapoor, and the family of Ranbir’s aunt Reema Jain, there was Christmas lunch. The partners of Armaan and Aadar Jain were with them.  Agastya Nanda and Navya Naveli Nanda were also there.
