His performance as Munna’s sidekick in the 2003 comic drama Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, which starred Sanjay Dutt, has earned him the affectionate nickname “Circuit.” Arshad Warsi just made his OTT debut in JioCinema’s psychological thriller web series Asur 2, created by Gaurav Shukla and Vibhav Shikdar.
The Golmaal actor recently shared his thoughts on the emergence of the digital arena, saying one should not be concerned with the platform on which the movie or television series is released as long as the actor is getting good work.
In the movie Asur 2, which stars Barun Sobti, Anupriya Goenka, Ridhi Dogra, and Amey Wagh in the lead parts, a group of forensic specialists is tasked with helping catch a serial killer who believes he is a reincarnation of the asura Kali.
In the most recent season of the show, Arshad’s character (Dhananjay Rajpoot) has attracted a lot of interest. Sharib Hashmi, Meiyang Chang, and Abhishek Chauhan all played important roles in the first season.
Commenting on the growing popularity of the OTT space, Arshad told IANS, “OTT is a great thing that has happened. It is giving work to a lot of good actors, and the audience is getting to see the acting of some very good actors. See, films [theatres] and OTT are two different things altogether and they will always be different. I enjoy cinema and I enjoy OTT as well. If you enjoy your work and you are getting good work to do, I think one should not worry about where the work is getting released.”
When asked, what made him say yes to the eight-episode web series, he said, “I loved the story. Actually, I loved many things about it. When I heard the idea of the show, I enjoyed it so much because I knew this will surely work with the Indian Audience. I found it interesting and that made me say yes to it.”
