Bigg Boss 17 is all set to grace our tv screens and our lives with the daily dose of high-voltage drama. unscripted entertainment and a lot of controversies. The show is dated for its grand launch on 15th October. It’s not even a week before Bigg Boss 17 hits the screen but there’s hardly any buzz, neither among celebrities nor on the social media platforms. This time of the month was all about people discussing the theme and contestants of the show along with Salman Khan’s massive fees (Rs 1000 crore, did you say?) and a big launch with all the trims. This year, fans are keeping quiet as show and its makers follow suit.
So what is just not working out with this year’s Bigg Boss? Is it because fans have had enough of seeing the over-the-top fights and the fake love stories? Or because it seems like the show is running round the clock? Or have they realised it’s no more as ‘real’ as they claim?
There’s a lot to uncover. However, if we look at the trend of people losing their interest in the show can be attached to the fact that the show has lost its essence. No big name from the industry is ready to get themselves associated with Bigg Boss. Above that the names that were said to be confirmed for this season are now said to be in two minds.
Another reason that we can assume is the Bigg Boss’ OTT hangover. Bigg Boss 16 wrapped up on February 12 this year and even before people could get over it, Bigg Boss OTT 2 was announced. Launched in June, it was originally planned as a six-week series but was extended to eight. And it’s not even been two months since it ended when a full-fledged season is all set to launch.
As per a media report of Indian Express, it is revealed that a senior executive from Endemol had once shared how the first season of Bigg Boss OTT did quite well but Bigg Boss 15 failed to take off. After the show is over, fans do feel FOMO for a while. Hence having a shorter season after the main show works but not otherwise. And it seems like the makers have the same issue in hand this time around!
