Amitabh Bachchan set to receive Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan is poised to add another accolade to his illustrious career as he is set to be honored with the esteemed Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award. Recognized for his remarkable dedication to the nation, its people, and society, Bachchan joins a distinguished list of recipients of this prestigious award.

Established by the Deenanath Mangeshkar Smriti Pratishthan in memory of the late Bharat Ratna awardee and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to their respective fields. Previous recipients include Prime Minister Narendra Modi and renowned singer Asha Bhosale, highlighting the award’s esteemed legacy and the caliber of individuals it honors.

In addition to Bachchan, the Pratishthan has chosen to honour several other luminaries with the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar award for their outstanding contributions. From music director AR Rahman to veteran Marathi actor Ashok Saraf, and from singer Roopkumar Rathod to actor-producer-director Randeep Hooda, the award recognizes excellence across various domains of arts and entertainment. The recipients’ diverse talents and achievements reflect the richness and diversity of Indian culture and creativity.

Beyond artistic excellence, the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award also acknowledges individuals and organizations making significant social contributions. The Deepstambh Foundation’s Manobal project, which provides residential training to persons with disabilities, orphans, and economically disadvantaged students, exemplifies the award’s commitment to recognizing impactful social initiatives. Additionally, the Marathi play ‘Galib’ will receive the Mohan Wagh Award for best drama, further highlighting the award’s recognition of excellence across different facets of society.

With a rich history spanning 34 years and honoring over 212 eminent personalities, the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award continues to celebrate excellence and inspire future generations. The upcoming ceremony, slated to take place at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Natyagruha in Vile Parle on April 24, will be a momentous occasion to honour Bachchan and other distinguished awardees for their outstanding contributions to Indian culture, society, and beyond.
