The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain with thunderstorms in the national capital, while also forecasting thunderstorms and windy conditions in parts of Andhra Pradesh and heatwave conditions in Rajasthan.
Delhi is expected to witness rain accompanied by thunderstorms, according to the weather alert. The yellow alert indicates that residents should remain cautious as weather conditions may change quickly during the day.
In Andhra Pradesh, isolated places are likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over the next few days. The meteorological centre in Amaravati has forecast strong winds over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, with speeds expected to reach up to 50 kmph. Rayalaseema may also witness windy conditions, with wind speeds likely to go up to 40 kmph.
The weather alert comes as several parts of the country continue to experience contrasting conditions, with some regions seeing rainfall and thunderstorms while others remain under intense heat.
Rajasthan is expected to remain under heatwave conditions through the week. According to the forecast, both minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to rise across most parts of the state. Heatwave and warm night conditions are expected in parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions.
However, some regions may get temporary relief from the heat. Certain parts of Bikaner division, the Shekhawati region and northern areas of Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions may witness cloudy skies, light drizzle and dust storms. Wind speeds in these areas could range between 40 kmph and 50 kmph.
The IMD forecast indicates that weather conditions will remain mixed across northern and southern India, with Delhi and Andhra Pradesh likely to see thunderstorm activity while Rajasthan continues to face heat stress.
Residents in affected areas have been advised to stay updated with local weather alerts, avoid unnecessary exposure during peak heat hours in heatwave-hit regions and take precautions during thunderstorms and dust storms.
