Britain’s competition regulator announced on Wednesday that it is investigating Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) planned $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is assessing whether the deal could lead to competition concerns in the country.

The CMA has set a deadline of August 14 to decide if the acquisition should undergo a more in-depth investigation.

HPE, which announced its intent to buy networking gear maker Juniper Networks in January, aims to enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) offerings through this acquisition. The deal is expected to double HPE’s networking business as companies invest heavily in AI technology.

Both HPE and Juniper Networks have not yet responded to requests for comment. The U.S. market was closed for the Juneteenth holiday.
