Tata Power has announced the successful commissioning of two major transmission lines in , marking the completion of all Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission lines under the South East UP Power Transmission Company Limited () project. The newly commissioned 400 kV Tanda–Gonda and 400 kV Gonda–Basti double circuit lines span 154 circuit kilometres, contributing to a robust transmission network in the region.

The comprehensive network now includes three 765 kV lines covering 951 circuit kilometres, fourteen 400 kV lines spanning 566 circuit kilometres, and three 765/400 kV substations with a transformation capacity of 3460 MVA. This infrastructure is designed to safely and reliably evacuate over 4,000 MW of thermal power generated within Uttar Pradesh, thereby supporting the state’s growing electricity demand and enhancing grid stability.

SEUPPTCL is a part of Pte. Limited, a joint venture led by in collaboration with and other global investors. The project was acquired as part of a strategy to resolve stressed assets in the power sector.

The project involved extensive planning and execution, including the deployment of over 45,000 metric tonnes of tower steel, stringing of more than 8,600 kilometres of conductors, and the execution of 139 critical crossings. These crossings included existing transmission lines, railway tracks, gas pipelines, highways, and rivers, with construction across forest areas conducted in compliance with environmental and statutory norms.

With the completion of these seventeen 765 kV and 400 kV corridors spanning 1,517 circuit kilometres, Tata Power’s operational transmission network has expanded to 5,466 circuit kilometres, with an additional 1,863 circuit kilometres currently under construction. This expansion underscores Tata Power’s pivotal role in building and modernising India’s high-voltage transmission backbone, which is crucial for sustaining the country’s economic growth.
