Star Health and Allied Insurance said it settled claims worth ₹2,294 crore covering 3.58 lakh claims in Maharashtra during FY26, marking an 8 per cent year-on-year growth in claims payout in the state.

The company said Maharashtra remained its highest claims-paying state during the year. Since inception, Star Health has settled claims worth over ₹13,789 crore covering more than 26.4 lakh claims in the state.

The insurer also reported strong business growth in Maharashtra, with Gross Written Premium (GWP) rising from ₹3,231 crore in FY25 to ₹3,690 crore in FY26. The number of policies increased to 17.1 lakh, while the company said it now protects over 5 million lives in the region.

Himanshu Walia said, “According to data from the National Statistical Office, eight out of ten households in Maharashtra rely on private hospitals and services for their healthcare needs. For our team at Star Health, that makes the distinction of being the highest claims payer in the state something beyond pure operational scale. Every claim settled becomes a moment where we mitigate financial vulnerability in a medical emergency and relieve the burden that families would otherwise bear. As healthcare costs rise and treatment decisions become more urgent and complex, health insurance has become an indispensable safety net for Indian families. We aim to expand our safety net by making health insurance faster, simpler, and more transparent through technology, local teams, and hospital partnerships. As healthcare needs evolve across Maharashtra and India, we remain committed to delivering accessible and reliable support for every family.”
