Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced a significant change in its leadership structure. Shri , who served as the Chairman and Managing Director of SAIL, has officially resigned from his position. His resignation was approved by the Competent Authority and took effect on 1st April 2026.

Shri Prakash tendered his resignation to the , Government of India, on 2nd January 2026. Following the acceptance of his resignation, he has ceased to be a member of the SAIL Board from the specified date.

In light of this development, the Ministry of Steel has appointed Shri , Director (Personnel) at SAIL, to take on the additional responsibilities of Chairman and Managing Director. Shri Singh will hold this position for a period of three months, from 2nd April 2026 to 1st July 2026, or until a regular incumbent is appointed and joins the post, whichever is earlier.

The announcement marks a new chapter for SAIL as it navigates this transition in leadership. Shri Prakash’s departure concludes his tenure at the helm of the company, where he has been a pivotal figure in its operations.
