Pepperfry, a furniture marketplace, has announced the acquisition of commercial interior solutions company Brandmakerr for an undisclosed sum. According to the terms of the agreement, Brandmakerr founder Rahul Kapuria will join Pepperfry as vice president.

With this agreement, Pepperfry will expand into commercial fit-out projects in the retail, banking, and HORECA (hotel, restaurant, and cafe) sectors. Kapuria will be in charge of driving business solutions for commercial, civil interior design, and turnkey solutions.

According to Ashish Shah, Pepperfry’s co-founder and chief operating officer, the partnership with Brandmakerr opens up an entirely new area of business for the company.

The transition of the client projects of Brandmakerr to Pepperfry has started. Associating with major players in the banking, retail, food and beverage, and transportation industries is the company’s current opportunity.

Brandmakerr is a provider of commercial interior solutions that was founded by Kapuria in 2014. With clients like Amazon, Hamleys, Tata Starbucks, Domino’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, Max, Raymonds, and Shoppers Stop among others, it has completed projects in 21 Indian cities.

Pepperfry intended to submit an IPO application in the first half of 2022 and secure pre-listing funding by the end of the year.
In a still-developing online furniture market, Pepperfry faces competition from both horizontal and vertical e-tailers, including Amazon India and Flipkart, both of which have been expanding their product lines.
