NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UK-based Octopus Energy Group to explore strategic collaboration across the power and energy sector. The agreement was signed during the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, which is taking place from 19-22 March 2026 under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
The MoU was signed in the presence of key officials including Sh. Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Ministry of Power, GoI), Sh. Piyush Singh, Additional Secretary (Ministry of Power, GoI), Sh. Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC Limited, and Ms. Renu Narang, CEO, NVVN. Dr. Jatinder Singh Chandok, Head of International Business Development at NTPC, and Mr. Chris Fitzgerald, Group Director of International Affairs at Octopus Energy, were the signatories of the MoU.
This non-binding agreement sets a framework for cooperation aimed at identifying, assessing, and pursuing opportunities in various areas such as electricity distribution and retail, renewable energy and storage, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, digital energy platforms, innovation, research and development, and capacity building.
The collaboration will explore opportunities not only in India and the United Kingdom but also in other mutually agreed geographies. The focus will be on enhancing efficiency, affordability, reliability, and the adoption of clean energy solutions.
