On Saturday, Mother Dairy, one of the leading milk suppliers, increased its price by Rs 2 in Delhi-NCR and other cities. The changed price will be in effect from 11 July. The company raised the milk prices on the grounds of higher input costs.
Mother Dairy expressed that it is ‘compelled to raise its liquid milk price by Rs 2 per liter in Delhi- NCR with effect from July 11, 2021.” Prior to this, it had increased the milk prices in December 2019.
As per reports, the new prices are applicable for all milk variants.
A statement released by the company stated, “The company has been experiencing inflationary pressure on the overall input costs which has increased multifold in the last year, accompanied by the distress in milk production due to the ongoing pandemic.”
In the past year, farm prices surged up to the tune of 8-10 percent besides mounting operational costs of processing, packaging, and logistics.
Mother Dairy emphasized, “It is pertinent to note that the farm prices of milk alone have firmed up by about 4 percent in the last three-four weeks.” Furthermore, it clarified that irrespective of paying a higher price for milk procurement in the past year, the consumer prices were kept intact.
“With this revision, the milk prices are undergoing a revision of 4 percent”, the company added. Reportedly, Mother Dairy provides around 30 lakh liters of milk per day in Delhi- NCR.
Earlier, Amul, too, raised its prices by Rs 2 per liter from July 1.
