Google has rolled out a new feature called People Cards in India for mobile search users which will enable users to create a virtual visiting cards. The new feature is aimed at enhancing the online presence of people by appearing on top of search results and also making it easier for the users to find the exact person they are searching for.
The People Cards contains information such as your name, photo, profession, and locality. In addition, we can opt to add education, hometown, social media profiles, etc.
Only one card can be made per account and protection against spam and abuse will be in place. Additional security methods such as authentication by phone number and 6-digit OTP verification has also been promised by Google.

People Cards can be created only on smartphones as of now and should be logged in to their Google accounts. Users will have to search their name on Google, or click “add me to the search’. After this, tap on the prompt that appears which will lead you to a portal wherein you can fill the information that you want to showcase to the world in addition to the mandatory details which include bio, location, and occupation. You also have the option to delete your information at any time.
Once you opt-in, the information about you will be displayed as knowledge cards on Google search and will be available to people who search your name on Google. Multiple cards with the same name will also be displayed and distinction can be made according to the other details.
This feature is expected to help entrepreneurs, freelancers, and other self-employed people to put forth their information for the world to know.
