Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has announced the extension of the additional charge of the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) position assigned to Shri A. Robert J. Ravi, who is also the CMD of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The extension is effective from 15th April 2026 and will last until 14th July 2026, or until the appointment of a regular incumbent, or further orders, whichever comes first. This decision is subject to the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India, issued the order to ensure that the CMD positions at BSNL, MTNL, and Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL) do not remain vacant. The order was communicated through a letter dated 14th April 2026, which follows previous communications on the matter.
During this period, Shri A. Robert J. Ravi will not receive any additional remuneration for holding the additional charge of the CMD positions at these organisations. This measure is part of an interim arrangement to maintain leadership continuity until a permanent appointment is made.
