The Kirloskar Group has launched a new initiative titled ‘Made in Kirloskar’, aimed at celebrating engineers, engineering and India’s broader industrial journey. The initiative was unveiled along with a film that traces the role of engineering innovation in shaping national progress and highlights the makers behind these achievements.
The film underscores how engineering drives nation-building and global progress, and comes at a time when India is growing rapidly as one of the world’s fastest-expanding economies. The Group said that ‘Made in Kirloskar’ will expand into multiple programmes over the next year in partnership with industry bodies, government stakeholders and Pune’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Atul Kirloskar, Chairman of Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd and Kirloskar Industries Ltd, said the Group’s 135-year legacy has been guided by its founder’s belief that thinking must lead to making. He said engineers remain central to turning imagination into reality and that ‘Made in Kirloskar’ reflects this spirit.
Rahul Kirloskar, Chairman of Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Ltd and Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Ltd, said the Group has always prioritised homegrown innovation, manufacturing quality products that support farms, factories and cities globally. He noted that a Kirloskar product is sold every 20 seconds.
The Group highlighted a long list of engineering firsts since 1888, including the iron plough, centrifugal pump, diesel engine, lathe, electric motor and air compressors. Pune’s emergence as a major engineering and manufacturing hub was attributed to the Group’s early industrial influence in the region. Kirloskar said the initiative arrives as the Group prepares for its next phase of growth driven by engineering excellence and emerging technologies.
