The Godrej DEI Lab, the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) arm of the Godrej Industries Group, concluded its national case study competition — India Included on Campus — with the team from IIM Trichy emerging as the winner.
The challenge aimed to bring DEI-focused discussions to management campuses and encourage students to co-create innovative, actionable solutions to promote workplace inclusion. The grand finale, held at Godrej One, Mumbai, featured four finalist teams from IIM Trichy, IIM Lucknow, IIM Mumbai, and SIBM Pune, who presented strategies on the theme of women’s retention and attrition in the workforce.
After multiple evaluation rounds, Team Do and DEI from IIM Trichy won the top honour for their case study focused on Godrej Agrovet. Their proposal presented a research-driven approach to strengthen gender inclusivity in the agri-sector through employee engagement, retention pathways for women leaders, and community outreach. The team combined field surveys, competitor benchmarking, and employee interviews, culminating in a video-based demonstration model linking inclusion with tangible business outcomes.
The winners — Mutayyib M Khan, Visvanathan A, Mahima Suresh, and Ishwarya Sree — received a cash prize of ₹1 lakh and mentorship opportunities with senior leaders across the Godrej Industries Group.
Speaking about the initiative, Parmesh Shahani, Head of the Godrej DEI Lab and author of Queeristan, said, “Despite progress, women continue to be underrepresented in leadership roles across India Inc. Through India Included on Campus, we wanted to engage future business leaders in conversations that position inclusion as both a moral and strategic driver of innovation. The passion and insights from participating students reflect the potential of building more inclusive workplaces across India.”
Team Do and DEI, IIM Trichy, expressed their gratitude, saying, “We are honoured to win this challenge and thank Godrej Industries for creating a platform that highlights key workplace issues. Our research into Godrej Agrovet helped us explore how gender inclusivity can directly impact business outcomes in agriculture.”
