Cupid Limited, a leading Indian manufacturer of male and female condoms, has announced the development of a nitrile female condom, aiming to enter the global nitrile female condom market, which is currently dominated by a single supplier.

The global female condom market is projected to exceed USD 1.2 billion by 2030, with the nitrile segment being a premium, latex-free category. ‘s entry into this market is driven by the need for supply diversification and the premium nature of nitrile condoms, which command higher prices due to their advantages over latex alternatives.

Cupid’s new manufacturing facility, designed for dual-polymer dipping, will enable the production of both natural rubber latex and nitrile condoms. This facility positions Cupid as the only Indian manufacturer with this capability, supporting an annual production capacity of 1.25 billion male condoms and 125 million female condoms.

The development programme for the nitrile female condom involves international technical expertise and focuses on formulation optimisation and comprehensive validation testing, adhering to ISO standards. Cupid’s existing regulatory foundation and global distribution experience provide a strong platform for competing in this segment.

Chief Operating Officer, Mr. , commented on the development, highlighting the strategic importance of offering a second source for nitrile female condoms, which will enhance procurement flexibility for global health agencies and improve access to latex-free protection.
