Varun Beverages Limited (VBL) has announced significant acquisitions to expand its footprint in Africa and strengthen its operations in India.
Key Acquisitions details:
Acquisition of SBC Tanzania Limited: VBL has entered into a Share Purchase Agreement with Tanzania Bottling Company SA to acquire 100% of SBC Tanzania Limited for USD 154.5 million (INR 1304 crore). SBC Tanzania is involved in manufacturing and distributing PepsiCo-branded and own-branded non-alcoholic beverages in Tanzania.
Acquisition of SBC Beverages Ghana Limited: VBL has also signed an agreement with Ghana Bottling Company Limited to acquire 100% of SBC Beverages Ghana Limited for USD 15.06 million (INR 127 crore). Similar to its Tanzania counterpart, SBC Ghana manufactures and distributes PepsiCo products in Ghana.
VBL also plans to acquire the remaining 39.93% of Lunarmech Technologies Private Limited for INR 2,000 million, transforming it into a wholly-owned subsidiary.
