United Spirits has officially closed its manufacturing facility at Nacharam in Hyderabad after receiving final regulatory approval from the Telangana Prohibition & Excise Department. The company confirmed that the excise licence transfer for the unit was approved on November 1 at 2:00 PM, following which operations at the facility ceased the same day.

The development follows United Spirits’ earlier announcement in February 2025 regarding its plan to shut down the unit as part of a multi-year supply chain agility programme aimed at improving operational efficiency and streamlining manufacturing capacity across locations.

The Hyderabad plant, located at the Industrial Development Area in Nacharam, contributed around 1.5% to the company’s revenue in FY24, according to the previous disclosure.

The Board had approved the supply-chain optimisation initiative in January 2023, and the closure was initially estimated for July 31, 2025. With the excise licence transfer now completed, the shutdown has taken effect.

United Spirits notified the stock exchanges via an official regulatory filing, marking the completion of the transition at the facility.
