Torrent Power has recently informed exchanges that the company has received two Letter of Awards from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for a total of 2,000 MW of energy storage capacity from Pumped Hydro Storage plants.
This consists of 500 MW allotted against the quoted bid, 1,000 MW under the Greenshoe Option, and an additional 500 MW under the Greenshoe Option. The agreement is for 40 years and will deliver an annual revenue of 1,680 crores.
Torrent is among the best-run power utilities in the country, having highly efficient generation assets. Its portfolio includes coal, gas and renewable power plants with a total generating capacity of 4328 MW.
