Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has announced the launch of its Chiplet-based System Engineering Services. This innovative offering is designed to help semiconductor companies overcome the limitations of traditional chip design, enabling them to create faster, more efficient, and powerful processors.
Chiplets—small integrated circuits that act as building blocks for larger chips—allow companies to mix and match components to meet specific performance and cost requirements. By leveraging this approach, TCS aims to empower both Indian and global chipmakers with world-class chip-to-system engineering expertise.
The launch comes at a pivotal moment for India’s semiconductor sector. Valued at $45–50 billion in 2024-2025, the market is projected to more than double to $100–110 billion by 2030. Supported by the ₹76,000 crore India Semiconductor Mission, India is positioning itself as a global hub for chip design and manufacturing. The country already accounts for 20% of the world’s chip design engineers, with major international players investing heavily in local manufacturing and assembly facilities.
The semiconductor industry is evolving rapidly. Traditional methods of scaling chips by shrinking transistors are no longer enough to meet rising demand. Chiplet-based design offers a solution by enabling smaller chips to be combined flexibly, overcoming scaling challenges, reducing costs, and accelerating time-to-market for new products.
