Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a three-year contract extension for its contract in the SPARSH (System for Pension Administration – Raksha) initiative, a government program aimed at streamlining pension distribution for over 30 lakh defence pensioners in India. This extension will allow TCS to continue to maintain and update the system’s hardware and software while enhancing its features for greater efficiency.
Since its rollout in October 2020, TCS has transformed pension processing by reducing timelines from 12-18 months to just 14 days, with first-time pension payments now processed in 5-7 days. TCS has also played a crucial role in implementing the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, speeding up pension disbursement for 1.8 million eligible personnel within just 15 days.
Recognizing TCS’s exceptional contribution, the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) recently awarded the company a certificate of appreciation for its success in reducing processing times for the OROP scheme from 6-8 months to two weeks.
Looking ahead, TCS plans to further innovate by exploring a digital solution that will enable pensioners to process reverse payments in case of overpayments. This partnership continues to bring transparency, efficiency, and digital transformation to India’s defence pension system.
