Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has successfully commissioned SJVN Limited’s landmark 1 GW DCR-compliant solar power project, marking the largest solar project executed by the company to date. The project will supply clean electricity across Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand .

According to the company, the project comprises 1,000 MW AC (1,400 MWp DC) capacity and has been delivered using domestically manufactured DCR-compliant solar modules produced at TP Solar Limited’s Tirunelveli facility in Tamil Nadu. Around 2.4 million solar modules have been installed as part of the project .

The solar power generated from the project has been allocated to multiple state utilities, including 500 MW to Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited, 300 MW to Jammu & Kashmir Power Limited, and 200 MW to Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited. The project is expected to generate approximately 2,454.84 million units of green electricity in its first year of operation and offset nearly 1.74 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions .

TPREL stated that the project was executed in challenging climatic conditions, with temperatures ranging from extreme summer heat to low winter temperatures, and difficult terrain. Despite these constraints, the company delivered the project using mono bifacial DCR modules, advanced solar cells, and high-performance inverters designed for harsh operating environments .

The commissioning of the project has also generated local economic benefits, providing employment to over 300 workers and supporting more than 25 local vendors. With this addition, TPREL’s third-party utility-scale renewable energy EPC capacity has reached 4.9 GW, reinforcing its role in India’s clean energy transition .
