Tata Communications on Wednesday, May 20, announced the appointment of Ganapathi S. Lakshminarayanan as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company for a term of five years.

According to the company’s exchange filing, the Board of Directors approved his appointment as an Additional Director and MD & CEO effective from May 20, 2026 till May 19, 2031, subject to shareholder approval.

The company stated that the appointment was made based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Ganapathi S. Lakshminarayanan, also known as Ganesh, was earlier appointed as Managing Director and CEO Designate by Tata Communications on January 21, 2026.

According to the filing, he has over 30 years of international management experience across multinational corporations, B2B startups and Indian enterprises. Before joining Tata Communications, he served as Managing Director and Group Vice President for ServiceNow India and SAARC, where he led market growth initiatives.

Prior to ServiceNow, he was CEO of Airtel Business India and earlier headed Airtel’s Enterprise Business unit.

Academically, he holds an MBA with high distinction from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Guindy Engineering College, Chennai, where he graduated as a gold medalist.

The company also clarified that there are no inter se relationships between Ganapathi S. Lakshminarayanan and any director of the company, and that he is not debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI or any other authority.
