TANFAC Industries Limited has commissioned a 5,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) Solar Grade Dilute Hydrofluoric Acid (DHF) plant. The facility is the first in India dedicated to producing Solar Grade DHF, a key raw material used in the solar photovoltaic industry.
The commissioning comes after one of India’s major solar energy companies approved the quality of the trial production batch. TANFAC stated that the product met the required technical and quality standards set by the end-user.
The company is also working on the second phase of the project, which will double the plant’s capacity to 10,000 TPA. The expansion is scheduled for completion within the next three months.
Afzal Malkani, Director, TANFAC, said: “We are excited to announce the successful commissioning of our 5,000 TPA Solar Grade DHF plant after meeting the stringent quality requirements of one of our major solar energy customers. Being the first chemical company in India to achieve this is a significant milestone in TANFAC’s history. This development not only strengthens our position in the solar chemicals sector but also has the potential to significantly enhance both our top-line and bottom-line growth. We are equally enthusiastic about the ongoing second phase of the project, which will double our capacity to 10,000 TPA and further reinforce our commitment to supporting India’s renewable energy ambitions.”
Solar Grade DHF is used in the surface treatment and cleaning of silicon wafers, a core component in solar cells. TANFAC’s new facility is expected to contribute to strengthening the local supply chain for solar manufacturing in India.
