Sunita Tools Limited’s subsidiary, Tripathi Aerotech & Weapons Systems Pvt Ltd (formerly Shigna Industrial Corporation), has secured a Major Letter of Intent (LOI) for the supply of 155mm M107 empty artillery shells. This order, for 100,000 pieces per annum, marks a significant step in Sunita Tools’ strategic expansion into the aerospace, defence, and weapons manufacturing sectors.
The LOI follows Tripathi Aerotech’s qualification for the project, made possible through Sunita Tools’ acquisition of a majority stake in the company. With strong technical expertise, a multi-location manufacturing facility, and an established reputation as a registered vendor with Indian defence establishments, Tripathi Aerotech is well-positioned to meet this new challenge.
The project requires setting up large-scale manufacturing within 8 months of acceptance of trial samples, with initial low-volume batches being supplied from existing facilities. This move aligns with Sunita Tools’ vision to leverage 36 years of technical experience to manufacture gun parts, defence components, and artillery shell cases. The LOI sets the stage for large-scale orders, with vast opportunities both in India and globally.
