Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL) has announced a significant investment of INR 50 crore to establish a state-of-the-art fibre skilling training centre in Telangana. This facility, spread across approximately 10 acres, is designed to empower local talent with advanced fibre network deployment technology. The initiative aligns with the Bharatnet program and aims to bring high-speed internet connectivity to underserved and rural areas.

The Government of Telangana has created the Telangana Fiber Grid Corporation Ltd. to serve as the backbone of the state’s digital future. A skilled local workforce is critical to ensuring the swift deployment of fibre networks, seamless connectivity, and enhanced user experience. STL’s training centre will focus on providing crucial skills in Smart Fibre Deployment techniques and next-gen technologies such as AI, robotics, and advanced defence systems. This training will enable rural communities to bring fast fibre connectivity using advanced technologies like robotic trenching, 360-degree photogrammetry, and GIS database visualisation.

STL has previously implemented a successful fibre skilling program in the UK and is now bringing the same expertise to India, focusing on Telangana. This initiative not only empowers local talent but also contributes to economic growth in underserved communities by creating employment opportunities. The fibre skilling program is set to drive technological progress, support local manufacturing, and foster innovation in line with India’s self-reliance vision.

Praveen Cherian, CEO of STL Global Services, commented on the development, stating, “Our investment in this training centre is a significant step toward building a skilled workforce capable of driving digital transformation in Telangana. This initiative will boost the local economy, attract industrial interest, and position Telangana as a hub for technological innovation and skill development.”

STL is a global leader in optical and digital solutions, contributing to the development of 5G, rural, FTTx, enterprise, and data centre networks.
