SML Isuzu reported its auto sales data for May 2025, showing a marginal decline of 1.3% year-on-year. The company sold a total of 1,543 units during the month, compared to 1,563 units in May 2024.

The drop in overall sales was largely due to weak performance in the passenger vehicle segment, which fell 9.2% YoY to 1,130 units from 1,245 units in the same month last year. However, the cargo vehicle segment showed a strong recovery, recording a growth of 29.9% with 413 units sold versus 318 units in May 2024.

Despite the sluggish performance in May, the cumulative April–May 2025 sales stood at 3,055 units, up 16.6% compared to the same period last year. Passenger vehicle sales for the two-month period grew 8.2% to 2,175 units, while cargo vehicle sales surged 49.3% to 880 units.

The divergence between passenger and cargo vehicle trends indicates a shift in market demand, with stronger interest in commercial and cargo-focused offerings.
