Sharda Motor Industries Ltd (SMIL), one of India’s leading Tier-1 automotive component manufacturers, has entered into a Technology Licence Agreement (TLA) with South Korea’s Donghee Industries Co. Ltd. to introduce advanced suspension systems in India.
Under this agreement, Donghee will provide SMIL with detailed design drawings, process know-how, and validation protocols. Leveraging this technology, SMIL will locally manufacture high-performance suspension components such as control arms, torsion beams, and sub-frames for both Indian and global OEM platforms.
The partnership marks a major step in strengthening SMIL’s suspension portfolio, with a focus on lightweight engineering, structural integrity, and next-generation manufacturing processes. As India witnesses a strong shift toward SUVs, electric vehicles, and premium passenger cars, this collaboration aims to bridge the technological gap in the domestic suspension market.
Donghee, known globally for its expertise and association with leading automotive brands like Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, and Stellantis, will bring cutting-edge technology and global best practices to the partnership. Meanwhile, SMIL’s strong manufacturing base, deep relationships with domestic OEMs, and focus on localization will help deliver world-class, India-adapted suspension solutions tailored to local driving conditions.
