Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has strengthened its position in India’s solar-powered irrigation space after receiving a significant Letter of Empanelment from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The company has been entrusted with supplying and executing 16,025 Off-Grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems across Maharashtra under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana and the PM-KUSUM B Scheme.
The empanelment covers solar pumps of 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP capacities, catering to the increasing demand for sustainable and reliable irrigation solutions for farmers. The total value of the project stands at ₹443.78 crore, inclusive of GST. The scale of the order highlights both Shakti Pumps’ technical capability and the state government’s commitment to accelerating solar adoption in agriculture.
As part of the agreement, Shakti Pumps will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of the systems, which includes design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, installation, testing and commissioning. The company is expected to execute the entire project within a strict 60-day timeline from the issuance of the formal work order or the Notice to Proceed, reflecting the urgency and importance placed on improving irrigation access before upcoming agricultural cycles.
The work order value before GST is ₹407.51 crore, and there is no related-party involvement, as the company clarified that neither the promoters nor related group companies have any interest in MSEDCL.
