MMRFIC Technology Private Limited, an associate company of Sansera Engineering Limited, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) to develop a RISC-V based Secure SoC for the Government of India. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), leverages IITM’s reputation for excellence in technical education, research, and innovation. The initiative aims to drive advancements in processor technology through the RISC-V architecture, which promotes open standards and collaboration in processor development.

The partnership focuses on SHAKTI, IITM’s open-source initiative aimed at producing production-grade processors, System on Chips (SoCs), development boards, and related software platforms. This five-year MoU outlines the shared responsibilities between IITM and MMRFIC, particularly in integrating hardware and software components. MMRFIC will utilize its expertise in cryptographic accelerators to develop and test the Secure SoC, ensuring it meets high standards of security and performance.

Additionally, both organizations will collaborate on project planning, resource sharing, and validation, with MMRFIC taking a lead role in coordinating the development process. This partnership not only strengthens India’s capabilities in semiconductor technology but also contributes to the growth of the nation’s tech ecosystem, making significant strides towards self-reliance in advanced processor technology.
